Massachusetts State Police troopers sent to hospital after a multi-car crash caused by alleged drunk driver

BROCKTON, MASS (WLNE) – Two Massachusetts State Police cruisers were struck by a suspected drunk driver, sending 4 troopers to an area hospital early Sunday morning

Massachusetts State police say the accident occurred around 1:00 a.m in the area of route 27 and Westgate Road: the entrance to the Westgate Mall.

The police department says 2 of the 4 troopers were new cadets in field training. 

All 4 troopers were sent to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver, now identified as 26-year-old Brockton resident, Frandy Jose Ramirez Rodriguez was arrested on scene, and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and operating a previous license suspension, according to police. 

Ramirez Rodrigez’s charges include: 

– OUI Liquor;

– Operating a Motor Vehicle After License Suspension;

– Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle;

– Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle;

– Marked Lanes Violation; and

– Failure to Take Care in Starting, Stopping, or Turning.
