Multi-car crash shuts down Interstate 195 in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A multiple-car crash has shut down Interstate 195 eastbound Tuesday night in East Providence.

The crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. near the Broadway overpass.

East Providence police said the crash started as a police pursuit in Rehoboth.

The crash involved multiple cars and several people were taken to the hospital, though, injuries appear to be non-life threatening at this time.

Rhode Island State Police have taken over control of the investigation, which is ongoing.
