TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Taunton police said Thursday that a hoax call lead to a shelter in place at Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School.

Chief Edward Walsh said they received a call at about 9 a.m., saying that there was a person barricaded in a nearby home and that the people inside had been harmed.

Officers responded to Hart Street and found that there was no one in the home.

The school was ordered to shelter in place out of an abundance of caution, said Walsh. Regular school operations were able to continue after police cleared the scene.

Walsh said that it was determined that the call came from out of state.
