Bryant Univ. announces new School of Health and Behavioral Sciences

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Bryant University announced it’s new School of Health and Behavioral Sciences on Thursday as part of it’s Bryant’s Vision 2030 Strategic Plan.

According to a press release, the new school will integrate studies in health sciences, cognitive and behavioral sciences, data analytics and business. It will help answer the growing demand for healthcare professionals and prepares students for real life situations in data-rich STEM fields.

Bryant’s President Ross Gittell, Ph.D said, “Bryant’s new programs at the intersection of health and behavioral sciences, data analytics and business will prepare students for exceptional career opportunities in fields including healthcare analytics, healthcare management and finance, and public and community health.”

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics expects a 16% growth for jobs in healthcare by 2030. That’s more than triple the projected average employment growth rate of 5%.

According to the school’s website, the new addition will build on the success of its already existing School of Health Sciences, its Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program, and Center for Health and Behavioral Sciences.

Chief Academic Officer Rupendra Paliwal, Ph.D, explained how the new school will prepare the next generation of students to succeed in their field.

“Bryant’s School of Health and Behavioral Sciences has a unique perspective on healthcare education that addresses the need for skilled professionals who can integrate knowledge between disciplines. We will prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals by building on our core strengths in business and leadership skills, data analytics and quantitative skills, and cognitive and psychological skills.”
