House Finance Committee to discuss 2023 state budget

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The House Finance Committee will meet Thursday to discuss the fiscal year 2023 state budget.

The budget was first introduced by House Finance Committee Chair Marvin Abney on Jan. 20.

The committee will be considering making changes to the initial proposal in Thursday’s discussion.

Gov. Dan McKee, Speaker Joseph Shekarchi, and Senate President Dominick Ruggerio will hold a briefing on “taxpayer relief” ahead of the state budget meeting.

A bill to cut gas taxes in Rhode Island through the end of the year was heard at the State House last month.
