Video shows North Providence police captain saving elderly woman’s life
NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A video released by the North Providence Police Department shows a police captain saving an 83-year-old woman’s life earlier this week.
The department said that Capt. John Brady found Anne Newman lying face down outside of an apartment building on Smith Street at about 3 p.m. Monday.
Chief Alfredo Ruggiero said Newman’s skin had turned a blue/grey color and there was a small pool of blood on the ground next to her face. Brady rolled her over and began performing CPR, at which point she began breathing again.
He continued telling her to breathe and she slowly started becoming more responsive, said the chief.
Newman was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and was released Thursday.
“The men and women of the North Providence Police Department wish Ms. Newman a speedy recovery,” said Ruggiero.
