Rap ‘battle’ ends with winner beaten and hospitalized in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police said Saturday a 22-year-old man was jumped and beaten by a group of men, including his competitor in a rap contest.
Police told ABC 6 News that the victim had been at a house party on Smith Street, where he engaged in a “rap battle” with another man.
After winning the contest, the victim told police he was punched by his opponent, knocked to the ground and repeatedly kicked in the head and torso by multiple people. He was then taken to Miriam Hospital.
Police said the victim, whose name wasn’t immediately released, had bruising, cuts, and damage to his teeth.
No further information was immediately released.
