WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said Monday that they caught some fishermen with more than 116 fish over the limit on a boat in Westerly over the weekend.

Environmental police were patrolling the area of Napatree Point when they found 206 fish on the boat. Six of those fish were undersized.

One of the fishermen was arrested for having a bench warrant for failure to appear on a prior fisheries violation, said the department.

Another received a court summons for surpassing the daily possession limit of fish and possession of undersize fish, along with a civil citation for a boating safety violation.

The fished seized were donated to the Amos House, a Providence-based nonprofit that helps the homeless, unemployed, and those living in poverty.

Anyone looking to report poaching violations can contact the Department of Environmental Management at 401-222-3070.
