PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Providence College Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams helped host an annual basketball clinic Tuesday in Providence.

The Friars gathered at Corliss Park Tuesday morning for a free local event where kids can learn from the college athletes.

As a Providence native, the opportunity to give back to the community was all the more special for sophomore guard David Duke.

“I think it’s very important to give back, especially because I’m a kid from Providence,” said Duke. “I used to go to all these camps just a few years ago… and now I’m coming back and helping out at the camp, so it’s pretty cool to give back.”

The Friars are preparing to host Team USA, an all-star team of players from across the Big East Conference, for the Pan American Games later this month.

They’ll take over Providence College’s Ruane Center starting Sunday, July 21, before going on to represent the country in Peru.
