Friday will be a transitional day for us weather-wise as a warm front slowly moves through Southern New England. Expect some cloudiness and even the outside chance of a shower this afternoon and evening. Most of the region will remain dry. High pressure then moves in tonight and clears out the clouds, providing a sunny weekend. The catch is the warm air behind the warm front and a strong southerly inflow from the high. With these in place, heat and humidity will be pumped into Southern New England, driving high temperatures in areas away from the coast into the upper-80s. With the humidity, it will feel even hotter. You will find cooler temperatures along the coast at the beaches. A strong cold front Monday will put an end to the steamy and hot trend. It will also bring showers that could be locally heavy and gusty thunderstorms.
