CRANSTON, RI – A Cranston West science teacher who is currently on unpaid leave from his 2017 arrest, was arrested again Friday.

Blake Collins, a spokesman for attorney general’s office said an arrest warrant was issued for Charles Pearson, 60, after the return of a sealed indictment for sexual assault.

That sealed indictment was unsealed at Pearson’s arraignment Friday at the Providence County Superior Court.

“The Cranston Public School department is awaiting the outcome the criminal proceedings before we complete the disciplinary process,” said Cranston Superintendent Jeannine Nota-Masse. “Mr. Pearson is no longer in our schools or with our students. He has been on unpaid leave since April 2017.”

Pearson is facing one count of 1st Degree Sexual Assault and three counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault.

Collins says Pearson has another Second Degree Sexual Assault case pending.

According to Cranston Police, Pearson has a lengthy history of sexual assault complaints going as far back as 2001.

Pearson is currently being held without bail at the ACI.

He is due back in court on September 30.
