PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island’s new electric vehicle program is set to kick off on Thursday.

The program looks to incentivize Rhode Islanders switch over to electric vehicles.

In March, Gov. Dan McKee said the state’s budget would include $23 million to increase the number of publicly available electric vehicle charging stations and that rebates could be up to $2,500 for new cars. The rebate for used vehicles will go up to $1,500.

Anyone looking for more information about electric vehicles can check the Office of Energy Resources’ website.
