Tractor-trailer carrying 43,000 pounds of solar panels rolls over in Warwick
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A tractor-trailer that was carrying 43,000 pounds of solar panels rolled over on Interstate 95 south in Warwick Monday morning.
The crash happened just before 10 a.m. near the Airport Connector ramp.
Rhode Island State Police said when the tractor-trailer rolled over, it hit the guardrail along the ramp, breaking one of the fuel tanks.
ABC 6 News crews at the scene witnessed firefighters actively working to get a person out of the truck.
Police said the solar panels will have to be offloaded before the truck can be towed.
The Department of Transportation has a detour in place from the Airport Connector westbound to I-95 north, added state police. That’s expected to last until early Monday evening.
No further information was immediately released.
