Fall River police lieutenant ordered to in-patient treatment program following 3 recent arrests

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Fall River Police Department lieutenant who has been arrested three times over the last two months was ordered to go to in-patient treatment Thursday.
During a court appearance Thursday, Andrew Crook was ordered to attend a 30-day in-patient treatment program following a string of recent arrests.
Prosecutors said Crook, who’s 48 years old, has been arrested three times in the last six weeks, with two of the arrests involving allegations of domestic violence and third for an OUI arrest in Somerset Wednesday.
The prosecutor said all three incidents involved alcohol.
In addition to the in-patient treatment program, Crook was ordered to have no contact with the victim involved in the domestic violence cases, wear a GPS monitoring device, refrain from drugs and alcohol and be subjected to random drug and alcohol testing.
Crook has been placed on leave by the Fall River Police Department and an internal investigation has been launched.
In a statement Wednesday night, Chief Barden Castro called the situation “distressing for the department.”
Crook’s next court date is scheduled for July 23.
