State Trooper sentenced to community service after assault

A Rhode Island State Trooper has been sentenced to 25 hours of community service for assaulting an inmate inside a cell block at the Lincoln Woods Barracks.

James Donnelly–Taylor, 38, plead no contest to the simple assault of Lionel Monsanto back in February.

State Police Colonel Steven O’Donnell said Monsanto was confrontational while in custody and Donnelly–Taylor used physical force.
