West Warwick man charged with breaking and entering

Derek Shippee, 25, of West Warwick, was charged with breaking and entering in two locations on Wednesday, May 28th.

West Warwick police responded to a report of breaking and entering in a multi-family apartment building on Prospect Hill Ave.

A resident of the apartment returned home to discover it had been broken into. Cash and property were reported missing by the resident.

Detectives investigated the scene and developed Shippee as a suspect.

Further investigation revealed Shippee had also broken into Astonishing Looks Hair Salon on Providence Street just a few days earlier.

He is charged with 1 count of breaking and entering into a dwelling house and 1 count of breaking and entering into the salon.

Shippee was arranged in 3rd Division District Court in Warwick on May 29th, receiving $20,000 surety bail.
