New Details Emerge on Two New Aaron Hernandez Murder Charges

Aaron Hernandez – already facing a murder charge in last summer’s death of Odin Lloyd in North Attleboro – was now arraigned on the two murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in
“Not Guilty… not guilty… not guilty,” Hernandez repeated on a total of seven charges, including two murders and numerous weapons charges.
While Hernandez denied guilt, prosecutors say they a have surveillance video and eyewitness accounts from a
“Daniel De Abreu, while dancing nearby, accidentally bumped into the defendant, causing the defendant’s drink to partially spill. The defendant became angry and increasingly agitated,” said Asst. District Attorney Patrick Haggan.
Prosecutors say Hernandez left the club; waited for the victims to leave; then killed them at a nearby intersection.

ABC6 Reporter Mark Curtis said, “One thing that prosecutors do know is that just hours before Odin Lloyd’s murder, Aaron Hernandez and friends were drinking at a bar, right near the Providence District Courthouse.”
“The prosecution is going to have the opportunity to display what evidence they have; what charges they intend to prove at court and if there’s any connection between the two prior murders,” said Larry Signore, a legal analyst.
Hernandez’s lawyers were furious that prosecutors made such detailed claims in court.
“That’s not fair. The Commonwealth’s summary serves no other purpose than to prejudice the jury pool,” said Charles Rankin, Hernandez’s defense lawyer.
Hernandez was denied bail, and will be back in court June 24th.
