The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s Legend show is packing up and leaving town after a tragic accident that has left eight of its performers hospitalized.
The incident happened on Sunday when an act called the “hair-hang” went horribly wrong sending eight performers plummeting approximately 30 to 40 feet to the ground. Public safety officials say a large carabineer clamp snapped during the performance.
Two of the acrobats remain in critical condition as of Monday. One of the nine people injured during the stunt has been released from the hospital, three are in serious condition, and the other three are in good condition. All are expected to survive their injuries.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has taken over the investigation into the incident.
