Active duty state police officer dies after fight with illness

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police announced the death of a fellow active duty officer on Saturday.
Sgt. Kenneth J. Carroll Jr. passed away after a “brave battle w/ illness,” Mass State Police said in a tweet.
Carroll was a graduate of the 75th recruit training troop.
“Our deepest condolences to his family. May he rest in eternal peace,” read in a tweet.
Rhode Island State Police sent their condolences through Facebook.
“We are saddened by the tragic passing of Sergeant Kenneth J. Carroll, Jr. and have his family and his @massstatepolice colleagues in our thoughts and prayers.”
