Bristol man to serve five years in prison for Massachusetts robberies

SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE) — A Bristol man has been sentenced to serve five years in prison for two Massachusetts robberies.
Niles Webster, 39, pleaded guilty to charges in connection to the robberies in Seekonk and Swansea, according to the Bristol District Attorney’s Office.
On February 4, 2020, Swansea police responded to an armed robbery at the CVS Pharmacy on Grand Army Highway. Webster told the store clerk, “I have a gun and I’m going to shoot you” and “demanded all the money in the register.”
After reviewing surveillance footage, police located the Honda that Webster used as a getaway car. Webster fled the car and led officers on a foot chase before being arrested.
After posting bail, Webster attempted to rob a convenience store in Seekonk.
On April 25, 2020, Seekonk police responded to Crossroads Convenience Store on Fall River Avenue.
Webster entered the store wearing a surgical mask and told the store clerk, “I’m going t need you to empty the register. I have a firearm and I’m not afraid to use it.” After the clerk hit a silent alarm, he fled the store.
“Unfortunately, he was released and able to commit a second robbery in Seekonk,” said Quinn. “He has a past history of similar offenses.”
Webster previously served a year and a half in prison for assault and battery on a child in 2009. He also served two and a half years in prison for committing an offense at a CVS in Bellingham, similar to the Swansea offense.
Webster has pending charged for an East Providence robbery.
