Cumberland chiropractor accused of sexually assaulting patient has license suspended
CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — A Cumberland chiropractor’s license has been suspended following sexual assault charges.
The Rhode Island Department of Health said it was notified on Aug. 24 that Thomas Sowa was accused of inappropriately touching a patient.
Sowa worked at his own practice on Nate Whipple Highway, according to the department.
“During three visits providing chiropractic services, [Sowa] required the patient to fully undress with no covering and engaged in a full body message,” according to documents obtained by ABC 6 News. The alleged incident happened sometime in June, the department added.
Cumberland police arrested Sowa and charged him with three counts of felony second degree sexual assault, as well as a simple assault misdemeanor charge.
Sowa’s license is suspended until further notice by the department.
