Student accused of saying he ‘had a gun’ prompts lockdown at Burrillville Middle School

BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WLNE) — A student accused of saying he “had a gun” prompted a lockdown at Burriville Middle School Thursday morning.
Michael Sollitto, superintendent of Schools, sent an email about the lockdown to parents and community members, which was shared with ABC 6 News.
The school resource officer and administration put the school into a shelter in place while Burrillville police responded to the school.
Students in small groups were brought into the hallway and had their backpacks searched after given an explanation for the lockdown.
No weapons were found on any students. The school returned to normal operations at 10 a.m., said the superintendent.
No other information was immediately released.
