Providence Police investigating overnight shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Police are investigating an overnight shooting Tuesday on the Providence-Cranston city line.

Providence Police said a male victim reported being shot while driving on Niantic Avenue in the area of Zona Lounge.

An officer reported to the scene of the shooting after hearing gunshots while responding to a reckless driving incident on Elmwood Avenue.  

The victim told police he drove himself to a friend’s house, and was then transported to the hospital.

Police said the victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening.
