WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – Almost a year since a young Warwick girl in was hit by a drunk driver while at a park with her family, she continues the road to recovery.
8-year-old Haylee Molina was seriously injured in August of 2018 when she was hit by a driver whose blood alcohol level was nearly 5 times the legal limit.
Since the crash, Haylee has continued to make great strides to get her back to the way things used to be.
She spent three months in the hospital and has since been working to regain mobility to her leg.
Haylee has had more than 10 surgeries since the accident.
“She does awesome, I’m so proud of her. She does great,” said Amanda Molina, Haylee’s mother. “Every time we go in, she walks in like a rock star and walks out like a rock star.”
Haylee and her family remain optimistic that she’ll soon be able to do things a little girl should.
In the meantime the family has rescheduled the trip to Disney that they had to cancel last year due to the accident.
