2 people wanted for using counterfeit money at East Providence store

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Police are searching for two people accused of using counterfeit money at a store in East Providence last month.

East Providence police said a man and woman entered the Walgreens on Warren Avenue on Sept. 29.

The man and woman allegedly used counterfeit $20 bills to buy prepaid debit cards and deposit money into their ECASH and Vanilla Direct accounts. The five transactions totaled $1,120.

The woman was wearing a white sweatsuit with pink lettering on the sweatshirt, according to police. She was also seen to have a black purse across her shoulder with a gold New York Yankees symbol.

The man was wearing all black with a black hat with teal writing. He also had a tattoo on his right hand.

The pair arrived in a dark or maroon colored Nissan sedan, police said.

Police believe they may have used the counterfeit money in other cities and towns.
