Police search for missing 63-year-old man in North Smithfield

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Police are searching for a missing 63-year-old man in North Smithfield.

Philip Emond was last seen just after 2 p.m. Wednesday by family members in their backyard.

Emond, who recently moved to North Smithfield from North Providence, suffers from dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

The 63-year-old is described as a white man with gray/brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, blue sneakers, and was using a cane to walk.

Police are using drones and K-9 units in the search.

North Smithfield Fire Department Chief David Chartier said it is “imperative we get to him as soon as possible.”

No further information was immediately released.
