Blackstone Valley Preparatory Academy will soon switch to electric buses

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — Blackstone Valley Preparatory Academy will soon have electric vehicle school buses.
The academy said Thursday that they were awarded a $9 million grant through the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean School Bus Program.
The funding will be used to purchase electric vehicle school buses and build EV-compatible infrastructure.
“These funds will improve the quality of life for these communities and help catapult us closer to our goal of being zero-emissions by 2035,” said Nick Voisard, National Express senior director of electric vehicles.
Over the next five years, EPA’s program intends to give around $5 billion to replace existing school buses with zero-emission and low-emission models.
