CONCORD, N.H. (WLNE) – Nathan Carman’s lawyers are trying to get a petition to keep him from his inheritance dismissed.

Carman is the man who lost his mother at sea off the coast of Rhode Island back in 2016, but Carman’s aunts suspect foul play, and also allege that he killed his wealthy grandfather, John Chakalos in 2013.

They originally filed a slayer petition in New Hampshire court to keep him from his mother’s inheritance of millions of dollars.

Carman’s lawyers introduced credit card and phone records as evidence in front of a New Hampshire probate judge Monday, that they say shows Chakalos was actually a Connecticut resident.

This would mean New Hampshire does not have jurisdiction over the case.

“His doctors were there, the church he attended on a weekly basis was there, the bible he prayed from every night and morning from his Windsor bedroom was there,” said Carman’s lawyer, James Rosenberg.

Now the probate judge will have to go over all of the evidence.

If he decides that New Hampshire does have jurisdiction, the trial is likely to continue as scheduled for this June.
