Want to quit smoking? Providence to offer free class

For people who have made New Years resolutions to quit smoking, the city of Providence may be able to help. Providence will now offer free smoking cessation classes and nicotine replacement therapy to uninsured residents in Rhode Island.

The class is free and it takes place once a week at the Urban League of Rhode Island at 246 Prairie Avenue in Providence beginning Jan. 17.

Anyone interested in participating in the program has to attend an informational session at the Urban League Tuesday Jan. 8 at 5 pm or call the Tri-Town Community Action Agency to register at 401-519-1970. Spanish speakers can receive more information about the program at 401-421-7740 ext. 505.
