KINGSTON, R.I. — A day after head coach Dan Hurley (@dhurley15) announced the 2012-13 non-conference schedule, the full Atlantic 10 slate was released by the conference office this afternoon.
This season, with the A-10 membership at 16 teams due to the addition
of Butler and VCU, Rhode Island will play each team once with a
home-and-home series with long-time rival Massachusetts.
Rhode Island opens up A-10 play on the road on Jan. 9 at Richmond
before hosting Charlotte on Jan. 12 at the Thomas M. Ryan Center in the
conference home opener.
On Feb. 2, the Rams visit historic Hinkle Field House in Indianapolis,
playing Butler in a game that will be televised live nationally on the
CBS Sports Network. It is one of four nationally televised games – the
Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic from Nov. 17-18 at Mohegan Sun can be seen
on the ESPN family of networks, while the Nov. 28 home contest against
George Mason will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
In addition to Charlotte (Jan. 12), Rhody's home A-10 slate features
George Washington (Jan. 23), VCU (Jan. 30), St. Bonaventure (Feb. 9),
Dayton (Feb. 13), Xavier (Feb. 20), and La Salle (Feb. 24) before
closing out the regular season with a March 9 home tilt against
Massachusetts.
After Richmond (Jan. 9), the Rams hit the road for the following
conference matchups: at Saint Louis (Jan. 19), at Fordham (Jan. 26), at
Butler (Feb. 2), at Massachusetts (Feb. 6), at Duquesne (Feb. 16), at
Temple (March 2), and at Saint Joseph's (March 6).
Top 12 teams will advance to the 2013 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball
Championship at the new, state-of-the-art Barclays Center. First round
games will be played on Thursday, March 14, 2013, followed by the
quarterfinal round on Friday, March 15. Those games will be syndicated
and air in local and regional markets of selected A-10 members.
Semifinal games will be played on CBS Sports Network on Saturday, March
16 and the finals on NCAA Selection Sunday, March 17 at 1:00 p.m., which
will air live on CBS Sports.
A complete listing of local television broadcasts will be announced at a later date.
