PawSox release on win over Yankees.

 

PawSox Hang On – One Game Out of
First
 

 

The Pawtucket Red Sox scored 7 runs in the fourth inning on Tuesday
night at McCoy and hung on for a 9-7 win over the Yankees. The victory moves
the PawSox just one game out of first place in the I.L. North Division. Mauro
Gomez belted a two run double in the first to make it 2-0. Gomez has 73 RBI to
lead the Sox. In the fourth, Andy LaRoche struck the big blow, a grand slam.
J.C. Linares had 4 hits and an RBI for the PawSox.

Billy Buckner (5-6) earned the win. Buckner surrendered 5 runs in 5 innings.
Josh Fields fired 2 scoreless innings at the Yankees and Will Inman notched his
sixth save. Daniel Bard walked 4 hitters in a third of an inning, allowing two
runs.

The four day, five game series continues on Wednesday, with a doubleheader at
5:35 p.m. Daisuke Matsuzaka and Nelson Figueroa are scheduled to start for Pawtucket. Olympic
swimming medalist Elizabeth Beisel is throwing out the game 1 first pitch. The North Kingstown native won a silver and bronze medal at
the London Games.
