Fall River pool re-opened Saturday after death

The Veteran's Memorial pool in Lafayette Park in Fall River re-opened Saturday.
It was shut down a year ago after Fall River resident and mother, Marie Joseph, drowned, and her body sat at the bottom of the pool in cloudy water for two days.
Since then, state recreation officials have made many safety changes, including reducing the depth of the pool from twelve to five and half feet and how lifeguards are trained.
“We've expanded that pool training. We've expanded that training,” said Ed Lambert of the State Department of Conservation and Recreation, “We've set aside one day in particular for real training relative to situations, we've ramped up our effort relative to safety.”
The pool re-opened at 10a.m. Saturday.
