CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – A correctional officer at the ACI was arrested for allegedly providing a prison inmate with access to a cell-phone in exchange for a gift card.
Christopher Jimenez, 33, of Providence was arrested at his home earlier today.
Jimenez was charged with:
- Conveyance of Unauthorized Articles to and from an Institution
- Aiding and Abetting
- Receipt of Gifts by Employees of the Department of Corrections
The arrest came after an investigation following allegations that Jimenez allowed an inmate at the ACI to use his personal phone to make calls in February.
The inmate, in exchange, arranged for the delivery of a gift card to a local restaurant to give to Jimenez.
Jimenez was arraigned before a judge and released on personal recognizance, pending further action.
He has been placed on paid administrative leave from the ACI.
