PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Providence man was sentenced Thursday to life in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.
The Attorney General’s office announced Friday that 35-year-old Fredi Lopez was sentenced to serve life at the ACI in Cranston for the murder of Andres Arguijo Acosta in 2016.
On July 30th 2016, Lopez entered the Alverson Street home of his former girlfriend around 4:30 a.m. When confronted by the ex-girlfriend and Acosta, Lopez stabbed Acosta multiple times with a kitchen knife, killing him.
Lopez pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder charge in January.
