WORCESTER, Mass. (WLNE) – One man has been arraigned on charges including murder and arson in connection with the death of Worcester Firefighter Christopher Roy in December.
A Grand Jury returned an indictment Friday charging Momoh Kamara, 21, of West Boylston, with the following:
- Second Degree Murder
- Arson of a Dwelling
- Armed Burglary
- Malicious Destruction of a Motor Vehicle.
Roy died on December 9th while battling a fire at a Lowell Street home. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Friday that he died of smoke inhalation and ruled the death a homicide.
Investigators concluded that the fire was intentionally started in the basement early on the morning of December 9th. Residents of the building managed to escape without injury.
Kamara, a former resident of the Lowell Street address, was arrested without incident Friday in Worcester.
Kamara was ordered held without bail. He will return to face a judge on April 24th.
