Driver involved in South Kingstown crash facing charges

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I (WLNE) – South Kingstown police are charging the driver of the vehicle involved in a single motor vehicle crash that critically injured one South Kingstown student on Friday. 

Police received a 911 call reporting a major accident in the 800 block of Curtis Corner Road on March 8th at approximately 11:15 p.m.

The car was being operated by 18-year-old Evan Conover, of Wakefield. 18-year-old Aidan Mulligan, and a 17-year-old juvenile were passengers. 

According to police, the vehicle left the lane of travel and drove through a fence, coming to rest in a horse pasture. 

The rear seat passenger, Mulligan, was transported by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Unit to be treated for serious injuries. 

Conover and the juvenile passenger were transported to South County Hospital for treatment.

The South Kingstown Police Detective Division and Accident Reconstruction Unit were called to the scene and with the assistance of the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General are still currently conducting an on-going investigation. 

Evan Conover has been charged with the following:
Driving so as to Endanger, Resulting in Personal Injury
Driving so as to Endanger, Resulting in Physical Injury 

Conover is scheduled for a felony screening at Washington County District court on June 11th, 2019.
