WEB EXTRA – More Blue Cross/Blue Shield Flu Clinics

For the first time ever, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are recommending that everyone over the age of six months receive a seasonal flu shot.

The shot is not recommended for people who are severely allergic to chicken eggs or who have experienced a severe reaction to a past influenza vaccination in the past. Last year, BCBSRI administered nearly 700 doses through this annual program.

This year, the seasonal flu shots will include the vaccination for the H1N1 virus. Flu vaccinations also are free for all BCBSRI members. There is no co-pay or coinsurance for members simply getting an immunization.
