COVENTRY, R.I (WLNE) – Coventry police are looking to identify a suspect accused of trying to get a juvenile into their vehicle.

On March 8th, police spoke with a twelve year old female who reported suspicious activity.

According to police, the young female stated that on March 7th, at 3:00 p.m, she was walking on Laurel Avenue and turned onto Centre St when a grey SUV drove up alongside of her.

The driver, who was described as an older White male, balding and wearing black framed glasses, asked her if she wanted a ride home as the vehicle passed her.

The young female said no and began to back away from the vehicle.

According to police, the operator of the SUV observed a nearby resident looking at what was going on and quickly drove off towards Pilgrim Avenue.

The Coventry police are asking for assistance from the public and if anyone was at the time of the incident is urged to contact the Coventry Police Department.
