2 people taken to the hospital following 2-alarm fire

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Two people were sent to the hospital after a fire broke out at an a home in Providence. 

Heavy smoke was seen coming from the home on Arch Street when crews arrived.

Officials told ABC6 the home was first thought to be vacant because the first floor was all boarded up.

However, a man and woman were both found inside and taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Their conditions are unknown at this time. 

It took about 45 minutes to knock down the flames. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
