Brown Football Schedule Features First Home Night Game
Brown's 2010 Football Schedule Features First Ever Home Night Game
Providence, Rhode Island – Built in 1925, Brown Stadium has seen its share of historic events over the last 85 years, but never before has a game been played at night. Brown's 2010 schedule features the first night game at Brown Stadium on Saturday, September 25, when Brown and Harvard clash for the 110th time on the gridiron.
With the help of the Brown Football Association, Brown will install temporary lighting for the Saturday evening Homecoming match-up against the Crimson, with game time slated for 6:00 p.m. Four banks of Musco lights will illuminate Brown Stadium, with two banks of temporary lights towering above the stadium on either side of the field.
“Our team is really excited about playing Harvard at night and making history,” said Brown head football coach Phil Estes. “When it was announced to our players a rousing cheer went up. We're going to have a great crowd, it's exciting and there's something special about a night game. We've excited to give our players and fans an opportunity to experience this historic event.”
Estes' team opens its 133rd season of intercollegiate football at home one week earlier, battling Stony Brook on Saturday, September 18, at 12:30 p.m.
The Bears will also play home games on October 23 in a Parent's Weekend match-up with Cornell (12:30 p.m.), November 6 against Yale (12:30 p.m.), and will conclude its 2010 season at home against Columbia on November 20 (12:30 p.m.).
Brown will also play five games on the road, with its first away game on October 2 against Rhode Island in Kingston, RI, in the 94th meeting for the Governor's Cup, as the Bears look to defend last year's Governor's Cup title.
The final non-league game for the Bears will be played on October 9 vs. Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. Ivy League away games are against Princeton in New Jersey on October 16, against Penn in Philadelphia, PA, on October 30, and vs. Dartmouth in Hanover, NH on November 13.
