Cranston Firefighters Find Body in Burning Apartment

Cranston Police are investigating after firefighters responding to a fire in an apartment complex found a woman's body inside.

Fire crews were called to the Riverbend Apartments on Dyer Avenue just before midnight Thursday night. A woman's body was found in the bedroom of a second floor apartment, where the fire had started.

Police were called to investigate, and determined the woman was the victim of a homicide. Detectives and the Medical Examiner's office are working on finding the exact cause of death.

The woman has not yet been identified. No arrests have been made.
