PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter Neronha announced that a Providence man has been sentenced to serve more than 32 years after pleading guilty to a fatal 2017 stabbing.

Richard Sostre, 36, pled no contest to second-degree murder for the stabbing of 52-year-old William Rodriguez.

Neronha said that Sostre told investigators that on November 14, 2017, he stabbed Rodriquez, discarded his knife in a trash can, and threw his blood-stained clothes away in a trash truck.

He added that Rodriguez lived in the basement of the multi-family home where Sostre’s mother lived.

Sostre was given a 50 year sentence with 32 and a half years to be served at the Adult Correctional Institutions and a 17 and a half year suspended sentence with 50 years of probation.
