Plane struck by lightning during descent to T.F. Green

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – A Southwest Airlines flight was struck by lightning en route to T.F. Green Airport Friday.

A Southwest Airlines Representative confirmed that Flight 1498 operating from Fort Lauderdale to Providence was struck on its descent into Providence.

Nobody was injured and the plane landed without incident.

Southwest Airlines said the aircraft was inspected, and after maintenance was swapped out for the continuation of the flight number to Baltimore / Washington.
