Man arrested for allegedly shooting at person from their porch
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police said they arrested a man in connection to a shooting that happened in late May.
According to police, a warrant for the arrest of 21-year-old Ivanildo Mendes Alves was obtained after he reportedly fired shots from his porch.
Officials said on May 23, at around 11 p.m., Alves shot at someone, who was not injured, from his home on Reynolds Street.
On June 8, New Bedford police and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section said they took Alves into custody.
Alves currently faces charges including assault with intent to murder, possessing, carrying and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and possession of ammunition.
