Somerset police join Ring’s Neighbors Public Safety Service
SOMERSET, Mass. (WLNE) — Chief Todd Costa of the Somerset Police Department announced he’s pleased to announce his department has partnered with a security company to promote community safety.
The chief said they’ve partnered with the Neighbors Public Safety Service app from Ring, a security company known for their camera door bell.
The Neighbors Public Safety Service allows residents to now view, post and respond to crime and safety-related information in the app to help inform the community.
“We hope that through the use of this app, we will all be able to work collaboratively to ensure that our community is safe for all as it is truly a community-wide effort,” Costa said.
Officials said anyone with a smartphone can download the Ring Neighbors App for free, and you do not need a Ring device to use the app.
Police reminded users that the app will not be monitored 24/7 and if community members need to contact Somerset officials, call them directly at 508-679-2138 for non-emergencies and 911 in the event of an emergency.
