Officials ID man crushed by loader in Brockton construction accident

BROCKTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office identified the man who was killed in a construction accident in Brockton on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said when first responders arrived on the scene at the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital construction site, they said they found 63-year-old Roger Porter, of East Sandwich dead at the bottom of a hole with a Bobcat loader on top of him.

Authorities said their investigation suggests Porter was likely leveling gravel being laid in the eight foot hole by the loader when it fell on top of him.

Getting Porter out from under the equipment was labor intensive for responders, the DA’s office said. He was determined dead on the scene.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

The incident remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.

No further information was immediately released.
