JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Are you a Johnston resident who’s dealing with rat infestation? Well, the town now has a new program to help you solve that problem.

Mayor Joe Polisena Jr. said Thursday he launched Johnston’s first-ever Rodent Control Program.

“With the help of our Rodent Control officer, this program will help combat the growing rodent issue in our community,” said Polisena Jr.

The mayor said the rodent control officer finished his training with the Department of Environmental Management. He also had extensive training with Cranston’s rodent control officer.

The town said this service is only for Johnston residents and only covers single-family homes. Multi-family homes and businesses are not included.

The services, said Polisena Jr., are free.

“The town of Johnston is committed to providing efficient services to our community, and we are excited to launch this new program and serve our residents,” he said.
