Johnston man accused of trafficking fentanyl in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A Johnston man is accused of trafficking nearly 50 grams of fentanyl in New Bedford.

Police in New Bedford obtained a search warrant for a vehicle after an investigation into a fentanyl trafficking operation out of Rhode Island.

Detectives found and stopped the vehicle around 11 p.m. on Thursday in the area of County and Union streets.

Police reportedly found nearly 50 grams of fentanyl and a cutting agent in the vehicle.

The driver, 29-year-old Elison Luis Martinez Jean of Johnston, was arrested and charged with fentanyl trafficking.
