RIDOT announces on-ramp closures on Route 146 in Lincoln amid bridge work this summer

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation will close the on-ramps to Route 146 in Lincoln several nights a week this summer.

The closures of the on-ramps to Route 146 north and south from Breakneck Hill Road, Route 123, will happen overnight starting Thursday, June 22.

Crews will work to demolish each end of the bridge from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday to Thursday nights through the end of August.

The department will replace the Breakneck Hill Road and nearby Twin River Road bridges.

Detours will be posted on Old Louisquisset Pike, Route 246, to the Route 146 on-ramps on Twin River Road.

The $35.7 million bridge project also covers rehabilitation of the Route 146 bridges over Charles Street and Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence.

The project is expected to be finished in fall 2024.
