Glocester police suspend search for man who crashed stolen car

GLOCESTER, R.I. (WLNE) — The Glocester Police Department said they’re suspending the search for a man who stole a car, crashed it and then fled on foot into the woods on Wednesday.

Officials said the investigation into the matter remains ongoing but their efforts to locate the man have concluded for today.

Anyone who sees anything suspicious is urged to contact Glocester police at 401-568-2533.

Police said an active response was triggered in the area of Route-44 and Route-94 after a man led authorities including K-9s and state police on a chase.

Officials said they’re looking for a white man who is described as not wearing a shirt at this time, wearing blue jeans with one arm that is heavily tattooed.

The public is being asked to avoid the affected area.

No further information was immediately released.
